Jack is now working for the Secretary of Defence, James Heller, but what starts off as an ordinary day soon turns into another dramatic twenty-four hours as he is thrust back into the workings of CTU.

Jack arrives at CTU to meet with new Director Erin Driscoll and soon becomes embroiled in efforts to thwart an attack rumoured to be planned by Turkish terrorists. When the Secretary and his daughter Audrey are kidnapped and their motorcade attacked, Jack is temporarily re-instated as a CTU agent to assist in their recovery and stop the terrorists.

As the rescue mission develops, CTU must determine who is holding the secretary hostage, find the terrorists who are behind the plot, and establish their ultimate plan. Jack's findings lead him to a Turkish Muslim family who are planning a major nuclear attack, led by Navi Araz with the help of his wife Dina and son Behrooz.

A nuclear explosion isn't the only threat they are faced with - Jack and the team must use all their courage and cunning to save the city, and the country, from a major terrorist attack. With the addition of new CTU members Agent Curtis Manning and Agent Edgar Stiles, the team is strong and ready to fight back against those that would destroy them. However, the clock is ticking and time is not on their side...
